In the capital of Monrovia they visited the people with whom a relationship was established through our Bible School, WordWise Word School Inc. where they taught an intense course on Christian Enterprise. There were a minimum of one hundred and twenty entrepreneurs enrolled, which participated with great enthusiasm in the course and workshops.

The goal was to set the wheels in motion with those who attended to begin small successful businesses and for the ones who were already active in a small business, to teach them how to expand their endeavors.

This was only the beginning of a long-term relationship that we have committed to and will support. We look forward to the return of prosperity to the land of Liberia, and will see out of God’s people there, those that rise up and become significant in helping to bring the country back on its feet.

To begin with in this year’s visit, the foundations were laid for good business plans that include several steps to ensure that all endeavors will become successful. The teachings and workshops included spotting business ideas and opportunities, doing market research, putting together a marketing plan, organization, financial planning, and operations. Intermixed with these business steps also were sound teaching on Biblical principles that are directly related to building a prosperous business.

Incidentally, when one does some study of the Scriptures in this area, one will find that every enterprise in the Bible applied some of the above-mentioned steps in the building and development stages. Many projects that are recorded in both the Old and New Testaments in the Bible have at least some, if not all of the business steps shining through.

In Liberia, many aspects like Counting the Cost, Skill Requirements, Budgeting, Market Research (as mentioned earlier), Wealth and Influence, Financing, Financial Forecasting, Income and Expenses, Goal Setting, Pricing, Marketing, Networking, Partnerships and Biblical Money Matters among other topics were looked at and of course prepared manuals covering all these topics were left behind for study groups of participating entrepreneurs to probe deeper and apply the materials more thoroughly.

Wisdom is the principal thing: therefore get wisdom: and with all your getting, get understanding. Exalt her, and she will promote you; she will bring you honour, when you embrace her. She will place on your head an ornament of grace; a crown of glory she will deliver to you. (Proverbs.4:7-9)

For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them. (Ephesians2:10)

For every house is built and furnished by someone, but the Builder and Furnisher of the entire equipment of all things is God. (Hebrews 3:4)

We are not in the mind set of giving handouts to help out in present needs, but to teach and provide means so that the people themselves will find the courage, strength and confidence to rise up, develop and grow a business that can also employ others and eventually leave something behind for posterity to take over. At the moment foreigners who come into the country to live and conduct business seem to take advantage of the lack of abilities, vision, skills and education due to the many years of civil conflict left an entire generation without education. Because of their skills they are able to see the many opportunities and reap the benefits of the riches that are available in Liberia. While everyone is grateful for foreign investment and skills, we would like to see the local people become the driving force of the economic engine in the nation.

With God’s own people helping and seeing to it that prosperity and well being returns to the land and its people, not only will that be beneficial to Liberia, but the increase in business and finance shall also support the outreaches of the church into all the land and even to the surrounding countries.

Proverbs 24:3-4 says that through godly wisdom is a house, a life, a home, a family, and a country built; and by understanding it is established on a sound and good foundation; by knowledge shall the chambers of its every area be filled with all precious and pleasant riches.

Any enterprise is build by wise planning, becomes strong through common sense, and profits wonderfully by keeping abreast of the facts - same verses as read in the Living Bible.
