Success is everyone's dream, no matter what you do in life. And it should be so because nobody came to earth to live a defeated life. God created us with the need to succeed because life is meant to be meaningful and productive.
Well, what is success? An elusive dream for many, maybe because they set their desires on things of material nature. Others are satisfied with only the appear-ance of success, carefully crafted to fit the general perception of what success is. Different definitions exist, such as these below:
a state of prosperity or fame
the favourable or prosperous termination of attempts or endeavours\
the attainment of wealth, position, honours, or the like
a successful performance or achievement: The play was an instant success.
a person or thing that is successful: She was a great success on the talk show
Success seems to be measured in terms of prosperity, fame, honour and so on. It can be true, and there is nothing wrong with it, depending on one's understanding of the purpose of it all. It is also true, though, that many rich and famous people are deeply troubled and unhappy. Some of them need drugs, alcohol, psychic support and other unhealthy ways to keep them going. Others are plagued with failed relationships and the consequences of broken families. It is possible, then, that the attainment of wealth and fame alone can bring a hollow delivery of success. You can hardly call an unhappy, substance-dependent person successful. There must be more to it then!
Since short-term accomplishments can be misleading, success must be determined over a person's entire life, taking into account all aspects of life. Is a person who is successful in one area but failing in others a successful person?
